BUZIOS / NORTH OF RIO

The northern coast of Rio is a very popular destination even within the locals, who like to spend their weekends in the beautiful region of lakes enjoying a total seaside relaxation. The most popular destinations are the stylish village of Buziós, which is a real pearl of the northern coast and Arraial do Cabo, an excellent diving destination with clear waters and rich marine life.

Beautiful Búzios is located at a peninsula scalloped by 17 beaches. It was a simple fishing village until the early 60s, when it was discovered by Brigitte Bardot and her Brazilian boyfriend. Nowadays Búzios is one of Brazils hippiest and most animated seaside resorts, where you can find a number of boutiques, fine restaurants, villas, bars and posh pousadas together with lovely beaches. The Mediterranean touch introduced by the Portuguese has not been lost and due to the narrow cobblestone streets and picturesque waterfront Búzios has been called the St Tropez of South America.

The cold, life abundant and transparent waters of Arraial do Cabo make it one of the best diving destinations of the country. Here you can find more than 40 dive sites scattered around the small bay and be able to observe turtles, sea horses, moray eels, large schools of fish, rays, octopus and much more. For experienced diver, the place offers a chance to explore underwater caves, historical shipwrecks and submersed canyons. The town itself is surrounded by hills, white dunes, sandbanks, lagoons and unspoiled beaches.
