The spectacular beaches of the Green Coast, in Rio de Janeiro State is formed by a strip of sand between the lush green mountains and the emerald sea. Along the Green Coast are hundreds of islands and many small colonial towns, including Angra dos Reisan an old fiherman village, with historical churches and monument. Luxury resorts and a number of hidden beaches can be found in Angra dos Reis, where crystal clear waters will inspire you to spend the day by sailing out on boat tours and visiting the hundreds of island located in the bay.

The biggest island of this archipelago is Ilha Grande This old prison island is a very popular place both for foreigners and Brazilians to escape the modern life and stress. This hideaway paradise without motorized traffic is full of secluded beaches, some of them being among the most beautiful ones of Brazil. Ilha Grande is a perfect place to relax and offers plenty of other activities for lovers of nature. Little bit further away you will find a small historical town of Paraty. This well preserved colonial relic has been included in the UNESCO list of world heritage destinations and together with its unique architecture Paraty is great place to enjoy the beauty of this breathtaling coastline.

On the border between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, where the mountains of the Serra do Mar meet the sea, is the National Park of Bocaina. Rising from sea level to the 2132m, the park contains a mixture of vegetation, from Atlantic Rainforest to Araucária (pine forest) and windswept grassy plateaus in the higher altitudes.
